Although Rudeus is reborn as a baby, he keeps the mind of a 34-year-old. At first, he shows some very problematic behavior—particularly around women and girls—which rightly caused controversy. But the story doesn’t excuse these actions. Instead, it portrays Rudeus as someone damaged, who must confront his own immaturity and trauma.
Over time, the show begins to show his growth. He develops emotionally, socially, and spiritually. He builds relationships, learns magic and swordsmanship, and discovers what it means to truly care for others.
